Real ales brewed on site at the Plough's microbrewery

The Plough is a country inn with its own microbrewery.

Established in 1996 by Rick Abrehart, the Leith Hill Brewery is situated at the rear of the barn just before the beer garden. This microbrewery uses traditional methods and 100% natural ingredients to create 3 characterful real ales which are sold by handpump at the bar.

Leith Hill Brewery represents a real labour of love for Rick. Each of the three ales has been carefully developed and lovingly brewed each time by hand, using the finest hops, malted barley and fresh yeast. The ales are stored in the temperature controlled cellar so they reach you in perfect condition.

The three ales currently brewed are:

Crooked Furrow – our flagship brew. Well rounded and fruity – best bitter strength.

Tallywhacker – dark, strong and beguiling. Subtle overtones of roasted barley and
a mouthfilling long finish.

The Beautiful South – a lighter, less strong ale. Fresh and hoppy.

It is a real treat on brew days smell the warm malty aroma emanating from the microbrewery, and invariably a pint swiftly follows!

Leith Hill Brewery’s real ales are only available at the Plough.
