Country Pub Fights Back with English Steakhouse
A country inn that dates back to the 17th Century is fighting back against the hard times pubs are experiencing at present by opening an English Steakhouse.
With around 30 pubs closing every week The Plough Inn, Coldharbour, Surrey is responding to the severe pub recession by creating a steakhouse that champions local produce.
The steakhouse offers 21 day dry-aged steaks from grass fed Aberdeen Angus cattle which are sourced from a named local farm, as well as seasonal English produce. The all new, full service restaurant has been designed from scrach with a new décor, ambient lighting and an upscale, yet intimate feel.
The Plough Inn has been owned by Rick and Anna Abrehart for 22 years and the English Steakhouse will be run by their son David Abrehart and his partner Tim Isaac.
The menu will feature one prominent exception to the all-England rule, being England’s only stockists of Joe’s ice cream from Tim’s native town Swansea.
The English Steakhouse opens on Saturday 4 December, with a free canapes and bubbly launch party on Friday 3 December – all welcome. The English Steakhouse operates Tuesday to Sunday in the evenings. Bookings on 01306 711793.
